Mordheim – City of the Damned

I've been checking out this new game called Mordheim by Games Workshop, and it looks like a lot of fun... I'm thinking about picking it up to play with people in Berkeley, because it doesn't require getting everyone together like a role-playing game does, but your gang builds experience and gains power. Read a review here at portent.net.

Mmm… E3…

So E3, which is the biggest video game show of the year, happened last week. It's a press only show, so I couldn't have gone if I'd wanted to... Except... My dad brought my mail up, and in that mail, I had a letter from Bungie, saying that they had extra E3 passes, so they were giving me one. Ergh, how incredibly annoying. I could have gone to E3!

Stolen Help

So shortly after moving into my new apartment, my roommate and I went for dinner. There, I rememered that there was a resident I had never helped out in Unit 3. When we got home, I checked my email, and it turned out that that person who I'd never helped had had his Power Mac G4 stolen. Guess he doesn't need help now, eh?

New Pardigms

Back when I went to my first Anime Expo, I bought a Tenchi Muyo shirt. When I looked at that receipt, I noticed that the store from which I bought the shirt was based in Berkeley, and so, as I'd be going to Berkeley that fall, I placed the receipt in my wallet so I'd remember to visit the store that fall. The receipt was forgotten, and I eventually ended up at the store anyway with my roommates.

After not having worn the Tenchi shirt for about six months, I was sitting in the office with it on and my wallet on the table. When I picked up my wallet, it spilled, and I put things back in. However, a little later, I noticed I'd missed one item -- a receipt for a black t-shirt featuring Tenchi.

Razor Coincidences Cut a Little Too Deep

I was sitting around in office listening the the jukebox playing "Mrs. Potter's Lullaby", and at the same time I was idly browsing through The Stew. As the line "All the razor perceptions that cut just a little too deep" played, I clicked on Quotes, just in time to see that particular quote be displayed.

MechCommander 2 Info

I really loved the first mech commander... It was a truly fun game, as it was the perfect blend of strategy and resource management. You managed your resources between turns while you took care of strategy in game. GameSpot has MechCommander 2 info here. It's too bad that this game will never be seen on anything other than windows, though.

The Sun Came Up

I am watching the sun come up.
What the fuck am I doing up?

A Riddle Whose Answer is Chess

"In a riddle whose answer is chess, what is the only forbidden word?"
Jorge Luis Borges, "The Garden of Forking Paths"

Around and about they go. Asked whether they are
faster than a speeding bullet or scarier than a
rolling tolling boiling broiling angry sea,
they say "No." "Who needs the Kwik-E-
mart?" they ask, and continued, "You see,
we have the spirit of the contest, which is a
    thing defining who we are."

Exhausted from Undercaffeination

I recently wrote a paper for my MCB class on everyones favorite substance to abuse, Caffeine. I did a lot of research for this paper, and here are a few of the links. Though it's a couple of years old, the Caffeine FAQ has a ton of useful info on the stuff. PlanetRX.com had a nice article about the changes caffeine causes in the brain. Howstuffworks.com also had a nice general piece on caffeine. And finally, I'm not sure what it's a part of, but this page has some nice facts about Caffeine.

Ceiva Internet Enabled Digital Picutre Frame

Over at Amazon I came across the Ceiva, an "Internet-Enabled Photo Frame" with which you can apparently put a picture off a web page on display. Sounds nifty, though it's not cheap.
