On Friday I hopped off my top bunk, took around 4 steps across the room, planted my foot, and turned to step behind my desk. The only problem was that my foot, much to my surprise, wasn't actually planted, and so I nearly planted my face in the nice soft dorm floor. Instead, my knee took the whole play, and I lost a whole layer of skin, right off the top! It hurt rather badly, and my repeatedly pouring Hydrogen Peroxide over the wound didn't do much to make it hurt any less.
I'll heal. The Human Body is amazingly adept at doing so.

The day before I step on board a Train Heading South, however, I get to see Linnell in San Francisco. Yahoo! I'm looking forward to it, quite a lot. The Songs of the 50 States are calling to me...

I'm leaving for Bakersfield on Wednesday evening, though really, it's not Bakersfield I'm leaving for, because my family should be all moved to Kern Valley by then. They're having trouble finding The Kitty, apparently. If you see her, please let someone know where!

I enjoyed Dogma a lot. Unfortunately, I can't remember a lot of it, because right after I saw Dogma, I saw South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut. I enjoyed South Park, too. In fact, the only thing I didn't like about South Park was Stan's vomiting. It wasn't funny the first time. Perhaps my favorite part of the move was the song "What would Brian Boitano Do?" Sheer Genius!
As far as Dogma goes, I really liked it. Funny, and it offered ideas. Just as expected, of course. My only gripe was that it was rather violent, but I shrugged it off and got on with my life. I'm probably going to see it at least twice more. I'm supposed to see it with Keith and Michael at some point, and then I'm going to take my brother to see it when I'm in Bakersfield...

What a mouthful! But it's a heck of a good mouthful. The Quake 3 Arena Demo can be gotten here for Mac, Linux, AND Windows.
Amazingly, not only did I get it to WORK in Linux, I got it to very playable in Linux. This makes me happy. This makes me happy happy. 3D in Linux was one of those scary areas I'd never quite gotten to work right in the past, but now it works very very well. Still, once XFree86 4.0 comes out, and nvidia provides some REAL 3D support for linux, then I'll see this machine of mine shine.
I think it's worth noting that I played for awhile against Keith and one of his roommates. Keith was playing on a Macintosh, and I was playing on Linux, while the roommate was using Windows. We stopped playing when the roommate, who was hosting the game, had his machine crash. Oops. Hmm... Does this say anything about any of the OS's in question?
Finally, I love id for showing up the entire industry and making it clear that it's perfectly possible to release a product for not one, not two, but THREE operating systems at the same time. Well done!

So the semester is finally more or less winding down. I have a rewrite of a paper due on Tuesday, Math homework due Monday, a rough draft of an English paper due the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, another math assignment due the Monday after Thanksgiving. I'll also have one more EE problem set due if I stay in EE, though I've been considering dropping it of late... I'll see what I got on the midterms before I take any such actions.
And other than that, it's all over but the finals! Oh, and the final draft of an English paper, and any rewrites I choose to do of the last two papers. But other than that, the end is in sight.
That's sweet. I look forward to doing ONE thing, instead of having to attend classes AND do work at home, and then having to work on top of that. If I JUST had to go to classes, or just had to do homework, I could handle it... but the double duty that school imposes has really been getting to me.

A week after finishing Witches Abroad, I went back through in search of quotes for my fortune file. The only one I found was "The wages of sin is death but so is the salary of virtue, and at least the evil get to go home early on Fridays." After adding it, I went and read slashdot, and came across a post with exactly that quote as the signature.

The day I got the CD Spock vs. Q, I popped it into my CD player immediately, and while I was listening to it, I went to look at the After Y2K! comic for the day, and I saw this comic.

One day, I was sitting in the office, and I overheard a couple of people talking about H2G2.com, or The HitchHikers Guide to the Galaxy Online. Mostly Harmless enough. When I eventually got home later that day, I read my dose of slashdot, and came across this article, which ends with the line "I think I'd need one - I'd feel so Arthur Dent."

So I've seen something like... one episode of South Park, and it's odd... I didn't see the movie this summer. But I'm going to go see South Park The Movie tomorrow night at Wheeler, because they're showing it for 3 bucks. You can't beat that, even if it sucks. And I've heard that it's not bad.
Besides, it's got Canada jokes. How could it possibly go wrong?

Dogma, Kevin Smith's next movie, which I've been waiting on forever, is finally coming out. Tomorrow. This surprised even me, because I've been so busy. So I'm going to see it. Tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it. You should be too.
